Rockford River Days Grand Parade

If you went through Rockford Schools or have attended any Rockford sporting events in the last ~50 years, you probably recognize Mr. Morrie Melchert. Morrie has been a staple of Rockford and Rocket Athletics since 1970, when he started coaching. Through his many years, Morrie has coached Track & Field, Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Softball, and has volunteered for or cheered on numerous other sports and events in Rockford. He was also an Industrial Arts teacher for 30 years, and was a substitute teacher for years as well until recently fully retiring from teaching. Morrie spent 4.5 years in the United States Air Force proudly serving his country. Rockford is very lucky to present Morrie Melchert as the 2023 Rockford River Days Grand Marshal!
